Under 21 football

The under 21 football team’s tactics of “kicking every high ball to Aidan Gahan because he is the tallest” worked wonders tonight as we overcame the challenge of the Shamrocks by 3-16 to 0-04. The standard of shooting from our lads was woeful at times in the first half and we thought we had done quite well to score 1-09, but a Cartonesque mistake by the referee meant that he had only registered 1-07 of that total despite the fact that we knew who had scored the 1-09 even, leaving the half time score at 1-07 to 0-01. The team received a great boost at half time, with the removal of Bryan Dwyer. We went on to be more productive in the second half as a result, scoring 2-09, despite Larry Murphy displaying a touch similar to that of his namesake from Wicklow, when missing a shot from 5 yards. In fairness to him however he did score 1-03 in the 20 mins which he was on. This win sets up a mouth watering district semi final with Davidstown, where the winner will meet the Duffry Rovers in the final.
